About Us
Why we STARTED this?
In 1992, I was diagnosed with T1D. I remember doing charity events such as walks and selling candy bars (Ironically funny) door-to-door for proceeds to go to the American Diabetes Association. Lately, I looked around to join event charities again, and found very little in the area. I looked online for Diabetes Awareness gear, and found some funny, but a lot I wouldn’t wear to work, nor would some kids even enjoy. So, I wanted to design something for all ages. While I produce them, I want to donate all profits to areas such as Diabetes Research, and to push forward, making Diabetes Awareness large again in the area, and hopefully more!
How we got the name
Why “Sugar Free Troopers?”
I was in a charity with many others over the world. I found a friend named Lenny, we found we were both diabetic and wanted to design a coin and patch for us, he brought up the name, Sugar-Free Troopers. We laughed about it, but it stuck, we were two friends trying to help an organization with donations, all of what we made went to charity. We took pride in the name being “Sugar Free Troopers” and found many others were the same and took the name proudly! Since then, I continued to think, what more can I do to help Diabetes Research? So I decided to make Lenny’s and my dream become a reality. Here we are today beginning to make waves, to promote Diabetes Awareness, showing pride in being a diabetic, and families proudly working hard together to overcome obsticles daily occuring for diabetics.
